Positioned as an eye-catcher for a larger installation, the kiosk allowed Canadians to virtually interact with the New 2012 Escape before it’s released in Canada. The Kinect sensors were used to track gestures to press a start button and hover over buttons to explore features of the vehicle which animated in the user’s other hand.

The execution was inspired by a UK kiosk for the Ford C-Max (created by Grand Visual and inition – our brief was make “one of these” for the Escape) but we built it in Unity so that the vehicle and its features could be viewed from all sides by turning the arm.

Implementation included a configuration system to match Kinect tracking to video feed (in case the sensors were shifted during shipping – which happened) and French/English swapping as it traveled across different Canadian territories.
